Default VP V6 in-tank pump in VR SS BT1 Drop tank

    Hey

Can i put my V6 fuel pump (stock tank) into a VR SS BT1 drop tank and make it work?

Cause Ive been told that the V6 has one pump (high pressure) in tank and the V8 has a low pressure in tank and a high pressure inline

Or can i just use the in-tank VRSSBT1 pump and it will work fine?

    Thanks

    VKC

If you have the bigger fuel tank your gonna need to take the fuel pump assembly out and see if it is a low pressure priming pump or a high pressure pump. the high pressure pump will look just like the one in your original tank and the primer pumps are a bit shorter plus I dont think there is a pulsator.

You may be able to modify the bigger tanks pickup assembly to suit the high pressure pump out of your old tank instead of going to the trouble of fitting an external high pressure pump. If you can't figure out which pump is n it post some pictures of the pump and sender assembly from the larger tank.

Pictures are blocked cause im at work but the return line on some cars goes into the internal fuel pump housing and some go into a welded on pipe up to the left and up a bit.

Ill take a look at the pics when i get home at 7.30, dam 12hr shifts.

Yeah, It looks like on the drop tank it goes to the fuel pump and on the VP it goes to a pipe welded off to the side a bit...

According to the VP gregorys manual, any VP built after 26th october 1992 has the fuel return line going back into the fuel tank through the fuel pump assembly instead of using a seperate return line back into the fuel tank, like the one in the pic above.

    Yep, your options here are.

    1. If the drop tank had a high presure pump in it (ie from a single pump set up) You can swap them stright over and run the return line to the pump housing and modify the connectors.
    2. If its a low pressure pump you can replace it with a high pressure one if you can or source a new pump assemble that can come from any tank thats got the return line on the pump. Plus side of that is you might be able to get one with the same electrical connector then!

Im pretty sure the benifit of the return line on the pump is it gets returned directly into the swirl pot, not sure on the pipe mounted one if its got a line on he inside of the tank going to the swirl pot anyway.

BTW, when do you get your P's?

Hmm, Not sure if its high or low, Airstrike seems to think it is high pressure...

If i can get someone with those inspection camera's ill find out, But in all honesty, Unless i can, Ill just believe airstrike until i install it as i CBF removing the pump...

Umm, booked my test for march the 18th... My birthday

I am getting a V8 Drop tank, but it doesnt have the Sender Unit in it, i was told a V6 one will fit because the hole on the V8 drop tank is lower or something, is this correct or do i need a V8 sender unit?

vr ss pump will be highlflow. they dont run twin pump setup.

connect both the flow and return lines to the vr sender instead of the return onto the side of the tank. done

what you want is a live axle strap from something that had the 80 litre tank.

which is usually luxury or v8
