Getting front ultra low springs out

Is the only way to get front springs off a vp to use a hoist and spring compressor???

Dont really need any of them to take it off, spring compressors to get it back on. When i take springs out i use tire wire to hold the spring down and undo the nut on the shock. But if there ultra lows with stock shocks they usally come lose when you jack the car up anyway.
