    Default Crushed Exhaust

    Hey peoples,
My vp has some of a stock exhaust (rear resi removed). Where it goes over the panhard rod, the pipe is crushed/dented. Is this a factory thing or has something dented it? Thanks

Its probably factory as they just bend the pipe in a press instead of using mandrel bends. If you are happy with the stock exhaust but want a little more flow you could probably ask a exhaust shop to weld in a mandrel bend for you.

it is on the outside of the bend, if you know what i mean. Not just a reduced diameter effect like a pipe bender

Could have bottomed out at some point or had the exhaust get pushed up some how. Either way it would be restricting flow by what you have described.

The stock exhaust has a flattened section there to clear the body brace just above it.

I've seenheaps of standard systems dented the exact same way.

Whistling noise is normal. Its generally the motor sucking in air.

Ok thanks for the replies. Will I need an adjustable panhard rod to fit a 2.5"system?

Nah, an adjustable panhard rod isn't necessary.

Does your's have the flexible section just above the join after the front muffler? If so, that is what is causing the whistle.

Yeah it does. I'm gonna replace the exhaust with a 2.5" system with a rear resi. Do these sound any good?

Depends on what you class as good. Exhaust note is a matter of opinion, what one person thinks sounds good, another will think it's shit.

With a rear resonator is generally a bit quieter than without one and will drone less.

It comes down to muffler quality.

A $200 system probably doesn't have exeptional mufflers. Am I wrong Abba?

yeh panhard rod hit it, my old stocko had exactly the same dent. Hmm while we are here "Not an abba fan": how is berkley mufflers in terms of quality.
i was told they are better than redback: stainless internals + thicker construction while retaining a very similar tone. no?
