turning motor over out of car

can you crankover a vn v6 motor while it is out of the car if so how, just brought a motor for $200 and want to make sure it cranks over, turns freely by hand,

sure can, make sure its got a battery hooked up to the starter motor and earthed to the engine. use a screw driver or a pry bar, put on end on the starter solenoid and the other on the positive battery lead that attaches to the starter. Should spin over.
