im wondering as im a do it your self person
the only thing holding me back with my conversion ismy main wiring harness plug diagrams,as i want to run original SL\E dash guages and to adapt to vc wiring harness
any help would be muchly appreciated

Why would you use the VP V6 ? Surely the ecotec V6 would be a better motor? They aren't that expensive and are heaps better than the early motor.
In any event you need to get hold of the wiring diagram for both engine bays and dashboard, you can white out everything not related to motor and gauges or trace the relevant circuits and it won't look quite so daunting. I usually seperate each circuit onto it's own piece of paper, it makes a big job less frightening.
Start with the donor diagram and highlight the circuits you need to keep
Compare each circuit with its counterpart on the recipient and you will see what to do and how to identify the appropriate wiring or jump in and pull the existing motor and carefully label each wire you disconnect, leaving the diagram til after.
You should leave the engine loom and computer loom connected to the donor engine to make life easier, strip off any wiring not needed, modify recipient loom to connect
You need to identify these circuits:
Fuel pump, you may need to transfer the fuel pump wiring over from the donor if the recipient has a mechanical pump
Starter motor, should be able to swap existing wiring straight over, maybe lengthen or shorten to fit depending on battery location, distance from ignition switch etc
Ignition, should be a simple matter of connecting power and maybe earth to correct circuit on donor engine loom
Air flow meter will be part of donor loom, should be fine unless locating it somewhere weird
Temp sensor or sensors, connection to computer leave alone, connect to dash as well
Tacho signal to dash from computer? or from multi coils?
Speedo signal will be electric signal not mechanical may be some fun here, hope someone knows this one
Thermo fans?
Someone else will jump in with whatever I forgot I'm sure.
