VP CALAIS GEARBOX ISSUE. (btw Hi all)

Hey guys new to forum and new to owning a commodore.

The car itself has 240,000km, auto shifts pretty ####ed.

Holds 1st gear past 60KM only changes when you back off. It then goes to 3rd I think? Not sure where to start people any advice or ideas will be greatly appreciated.

Gday, welcome to the forum.Id first try giving the transmission a service,see if that improves anything.Theres a filter that needs changing periodically in the auto transmission.You can buy the filter service kit from places like supercheap etc,they cost around $20-$30.The kit includes the new filter,a new filter seal,and a new transmission pan gasket.You will also need 5 lt of dexron 111 (3) type transmission fluid-also around $20-$30.You can also take it to a transmission place for a service,but your looking at a couple a hunderd dollars at least for the privilage.Its not hard to do it yourself anyway.A gregorys workshop manual for VP models is also worth the $50 or so that they cost .The first time you use it to service or repair something,it will have pretty much paid for itself with the money it saved you by not having to take it to a mechanics.
Id also do a quick computer fault check just to make sure no error codes have set and that its all ok.Some ECU error codes will not always turn the engine light on...Its easy to do,heres a link to a post that shows you how to do this simple test.
