Default Warm air out vents when heater is off

So I've had the car 3 days now, nowhere near used to everything.
What I have noticed is that if the car has been sitting in the sun for a while, when you drive off quite a bit of warm air continues to come out the vents even when the heater is off and only outside air is coming through, i.e. not re-circulating. After a while it cools down a bit presumably because the hot plastic ducting is now cooling down but it never gets down to outside air temp like when you stick your hand out the window. Is this just normal with these cars, or could maybe the heater tap be not fully turning off or some air flap not shutting off fully and letting some of the heater air come through?

    does it smell damp/musty ??
if so might be worth looking into heater core.

Mine's gone on the VT. and unless I run the aircon on cold, it blows hot air.

If it's excessively hot, then yes check heater core and engine bay tap for correct operation.
However, by what you have said it's completely normal for the air to not be the same temp as hand out the window. It's residual heat in the dash, and the fact the fresh air is coming over a very hot bonnet on a warm day, before it circulates through your still warm dash...
