    Default VQ 5L v8 getting hot

    hi all i got a VQ V8 and it gets very hot i tried taking thermostat out and sam brought brand new radiator not much different then tried elec themo fans 14" 1 on front 1 on back now takes longer to get hot any ideas??

    Do the water and oil look healthy? Are you getting good pressure in the cooling system? Top hose should be firm when warm.

    Mine was getting hot very easy until I changed the radiator cap and now it seals properly its much better, worth a try if you can't find any other problems

    oil is good water is clean and it got a new radiator cap with the new radiator and yeah it has pressure in hoses

    taking the thermostat out wont help at all the coolant now flows thru the radiator faster and dosnt have a chance to cool down..

    I reckon that would also mean that the water flows through the motor faster too and so wouldn't have a chance to heat up!

    i will try another thermostat again then and i got another elec fan to try

    Try a cold air intake with a k&n filter, check your oxygen sensors,walsh plugs etc. My VQ is currently experience heating problems on hot days.

    yeah its got cold air with k&n
