My vp auto wont change gears unless it goes over 3500 revs. It was changing fine until I parked at the drive-ins on an angle. Then when I went to put it in gear there was a clunking noise and now I have to floor it for it to change gears but when it does it drives like it should.
Also when it does change it shifts hard.
Can anyone help or offer any ideas as this has me stumped.
Cheers
Check your fluid level
Illegitimi Non Carborundum
On older trannies on various other cars this sounds =exactly= like the vacuum hose has fallen off the vacuum modulator on the tranny.
Do these have the same setup?
I checked the fluid level and it was fine. I am going to take it to a transmission place tomorrow and see what they have to say.
Will post what they tell me.
gouvenor in the rear of the trans has probably striped some teeth or lost a spring or counterweight its under the dome on the rear of the housing
I tune the oldschool way fear on the passengers face and knuckle colour cant go wrong
tabbacco is still my favorite vegetable
or the TV cable is stuck put car in drive or reverse and get someone to hold foot on the brake and pull the cable to the trans a heap of times to unstick the valve in the trans

Just got back from the trans place and he said it has a blocked throttle valve. Does anyone know if I can do this myself of do I have to get the trans place to do it. If I can do it myself how would I go about doing it.
Cheers
throttle butterfly? buy soem upper engine cleaner from subaru aka carby cleaner and spray it in there.. or take the throttle body off and scrub it![]()
I have a 93 vp and i have the same problem, but i have a vibration from under the car, not sure if its trans or exhaust pipe but it comes from the middle wear tray is
do as i said above pull the cable lots of times with car in gear running it will unstick the valve .it may stay unstuck for ages or jam back up fast its a common problem with t700 transmissions all transgo shiftkits come with a self cleaning TV valve assembly to go in the trans to fix the problem

Ok. Thanks delcowizzid. I will try that later this afternoon. Is the shift kit easy to install.
yes and no LOL depends if you like trans fluid all through your hair and running down your arms into your armpits LOL

ATF is horrible, just a whiff of old fluid is enough to keep me away
its the reason i've never changed the trans filter LOL
Looks like I am going to buy a shift kit as it has stuck again.![]()
This morning I was going around a roundabout and it started to rev out so I put my foot to the floor and now it is driving like it used too. The valve must of got unstuck somehow. I will still buy a shift kit but for now I have some of the electrical problems to fix first.
Id say clean the throttle body n check the kickdown for starters, sounds like the issues i had a while back
hey guys, i have a vq 5 ltr ive only had it a bit over a week and its sounds like its got exactly the same problem..
i was guessing it had something to do with the kickdown..
i supose the v8 setup would be the same..
any advice before i start tinkeing would be much appreciated thanks
