    Cool VP engine mods.

what would be the most basic mod to apply on a VP. would it even be worth stroking the engine out to a 4.1 or 4.2- just trying to see what the limits are on this model.

Not even close to worth the effort.

You can stroke them to 4.2ltrs (253ci), but say good bye to $5000 if you do it yourself. Easier to by a 5ltr VP and go from there.

Well really no mods are legal on your P's.

If you must spend money, Tuned length extractors, twin 2.25" exhaust system, Cam&valve train upgrade + retuned memcal.
After all that you might have bugger all difference.

I would suggest spending the money on good struts and springs, sway bars and urethane bushes. That will make the car drive allot better. Probably feel allot faster without making more power.
Also the big one, good tyres. You'll get more benifit out of good tyres then you will 1 or 2 kw. And that few kw will cost you a bunch.

Then I'd strongly recomend doing the suspension first. Do it properly.
Not with Ultra low springs and crap shocks.

If you want to go low, invest in some coil overs. Because cars on ultra lows dont go around corners.
    Invest in some bigger brakes.
Give the buick a dulux rebuild and keep it looking clean untill you can get a better motor.

The more money you save now, the better your first car off your P's will be .

I agree with soop on this 100%. Suspension was the first thing I done on my first car, just some low (not super or ultra) springs and good shocks. Makes the car 100x better, ive got complements off people about how it sticks to the road around corrner's coming from VE drivers trying to folowing me in there car.

totally agree too, the only time i did engine mods to my daily V6 was when the old engine got a rear main leak, as the old engine had to come out i had a new cammed one ready to go in :P

Yeah, suspension, brakes and rims/tyres are pretty much what I did first too, and yeah just go lows and good shocks.

Agree on doing suspension and brakes.....

    I'd do
-Superlows at the lowest (ultra's handle like shit lol), shortened shockers, strut brace (alot of people say its not noticable but it is ) sway bars, change bush's and shit....
-And throw some 17's on it (dont go to big, 17's seem to be the best size for handling imo) and some vt-ve brakes....

    Then,
-A diff that spins 2 and some diff gears (since your manual, something between 3.45-3.9, depending on what you want)
    -Double row timing chain

Then just drive and enjoy it until you get off your p's
