Hi All,
I have a Turbo 700 Gearbox.
My Gearbox seams to be slipping at times.
When Gears change there seems to sometimes be a delay, and then a jerk.
The car had been sitting around for a couple of years not being driven.
Could it be the gearbox has gone? May it just need a service?
What is the going rate for a gearbox rebuild, or a second hand gearbox.
Thanks
u may just need a service and oil change im not sure but maybe the bands need adjusting im not sure if they have bands though but my old vk used to d]o that and i got a service and band adjustment done and it fixed the problem![]()
top up your trans fluid????
ok, i'll give those things a go.
is it manual, if so it shouldnt have bands only auto's do (i think) put new oil the old stuff will be sludge now deep down, other wise the clutch may be going, if its manual check clutch fluidOriginally Posted by Dezza

change the fluids, get the kicker adjusted, check for leaks around the oil pan ... generally just get it looked at and tested by a knowledgeable mechanic.
it'll cost ya about $80 i spose to get these things done for you .. but you'll know one way or the other whats up with the tranny..
and for future reference ease mate .. a GEARBOX is the term used for MANUALS and TRANSMISSION is used for automatic gearboxes ..
for some reason certain people in this world somehow manage to get themselves confused between a gearbox and a transmission... lmao...
He has a VQ statesman and to my knowledge statesmans never came out in a manual! And even if it was a manual you could not check the clutch fluid because all VN-VR commodores run a cable clutch!Originally Posted by VN-88
Also turbo 700 "transmissions" dont have any adjustments for the bands, they are factory set and once the bands wear out the transmission requires a rebuild. Like sosage said get it serviced and make sure the kickdown cable is adjusted correctly and go from there.
