It might be the pickup oin the tank is not moving up n down with fuel level.
Mine does this when it gets to about 1/4 it gets stuck and wont go down with fuel level to pick up the fuel. when you go arpound left hand conrers the fuel runs to the other side of tank and then it feels like there no power till the petrol comes back over and it picks up power again.
I CBF fixing it atm so my solution is not to let it run low on petrol(cant be helped all the time though)

assuming the fuel has been dumped when replacing pump, filter and sender, only guess would be it's incorrectly reading (float not accurate) or the pickup is not located properly...
one method to try is when your car reports a 1/4 tank, drop the fuel and measure the qty... ?
do you fill the tank every top up? does it only happen at 1/4 tank? has the tank ever been out?...something to check is the breather for the tank...if theres a blockage or has been re-hooked up incorrectly then you may be suffering from a vacuum in the tank fault...as the fuel is used no air replaces the used fuel volume and a vacuum is created...the more fuel used the greater the vacuum created and by 1/4 tank the pump cant draw fuel against the amount of vacuum...this is one of many possibilities and is most likely not the cause but its worth eliminating...
thanks guys for the replys .. all hoses have been changed and pumps been in and out about 7-8 times in the last 4 days so i dont think he could put it in wrong everytime .. always makes sure sender unit is facing right way with float right way , but we have a theory ...map sensor?? crank angles fine no dramas there the fuels smelling eally rich too unsure if this is due to mixture next options is changing sensors im guessing if not computer reset ? what do u guys think .. and pub it seems that way but im noticing it on corners and hills heading up ....
in saying that coast i would completely run out of fuel wouldnt i ? the car starts right away ...and broom broom off i go lol bear with me as i said female with a blonde brain ... weve dropped the fuel at the line above empty n got out about 10-15 ltrs out n its black shitty fuel not sure maybe the tank needs a flsuh ?
Have you checked for fault codes?
MAP sensor should show up if faulty

Only solution - drain the tank completely and fill with 20l of fresh fuel from BP or Mobil.

Is there a return line inside the tank? And if so does it flow back to the pump/swirl pot or does it just flop down inside the tank?
Also the pick up point doesn't move with the fuel level, only the float for the guage does.
Illegitimi Non Carborundum
quite possible .. will check for faults in the morning pub ;-) and ive also been told the united service station i get my fuel from has blown heaps of peoples pumps in there cars .. time for a change today i put in 15 lts of bp fuel see if this flushes it if not time to drain n re fill thank all![]()
water sits at the very base of the tank / swirl pot, because its heavier than petrol - and you only need a bit in there to cause problems (even 1/2 litre is a lot of water in a tank)..........I filled up at an independent in Sydney a couple of years ago.......what a mistake ! Car ran like a dog for days afterwards, i ended up dropping the tank and emptying it completely. It had over 1 litre of water in there !!!
For a quick & easy fix - throw in 1 litre of methylated spirits into your tank, and drive it to empty. Metho absorbs any water that might be in your tank, and may help with your problem. Just keep a 5 litre fuel container in the boot so when you *empty* the tank while driving, you have enough to get to the closest servo. You have to empty the tank though for this method to be 100% effective.

thanks gosling i will try this, this afternoon ... hope its cures the problem .. theres alot of black shity stuff liek charcoal in the bottom of the tank and it came out of the filter aswell a few weeks back ... so metho first if no improvement ... drain the tank n have a flush .... ive also read that water in the tank can come from sources such as contaminated fuel or just driving in the rain to the lines at the servo not being closed properly during a hard down pour.. also ive been told that a sweet smelling fume coming through the car can be a contamination to ...which is what im noticing .. its almost on the money that everytime it gets just under a quarter in a 80 km or under zone shes garenteed to #### up !!
