Default Replaced standard fuel tank with long range tank..Now car keeps cutting out

I just installed a 85L tank out of a VS Statesman into my VN v6.....It seems to idle OK, but when i drive it, it cuts out every 10 seconds or so....
    Any ideas?

It would have to be running out of fuel for some reason. How much fuel did you put back in the tank?

as in do u hear it going vrrrrr when u turn the keys to accesories

    its a external pump yer?

could be something as simple as the fuel filter got blocked up by crap tht was in the tank before u put it in

    Internal pump
Not hearing anything when key at acc, the old / tank pump was very noisy

IIRC, the VN long range (V8) tank has two pumps, in lieu of the single (internal tank) high pressure pump for the standard tank. The long range tank has a low pressure pump internal to the tank, with a high pressure pump (with an external pulsator) outside the tank.

If you have simply hooked up the standard connection when you replaced the tank, then chances are you are only running the low pressure pump - which sort of relates to the problems you are experiencing.

You may need to add a connection to the external high pressure pump, to ensure it is running, to sort things out.

That was only in the VN series, if the tank is from a VS it will have the hi flow intank.

OK is there anything stopping me installing my standard VN tank pump in the long range VS tank....
I know the original works and as my VN has done less than 40,000km it should be OK yeah

Ooops, my apologies. Been a while since I had my VN, and have had nothing to do with the VS, hence my misplaced assumption that the VS had a similar setup.

    My bad.

I assumed you put a new fuel filter on when you changed the tank? Because thats the first thing you should do.
