Hey guys, just noticed last night whislt driving home a knocking noise coming from the front left, i can hear it when i hit a bump or when i turn right, it doesnt sound severe or alter the handling of the car but would still like to know what it may be..
Any ideas?
Hey Defected. I've got the same issue with the missus's VN Calais. I've replaced front shocks, springs, ball joints and tie rods. It has Nolathane bushes as well and it still does it. When I find what it is I'll let you know.
See u in my rear view
strut top bearings, mine has that sound same side. im going with the nolathane ones i think...
dont sweat the petty... pet the sweaty...
Probably will be the Top strut mounts but would also check the Link pins, Front & Rear Radius rod bushes.
Get it checked by a pro(even take it to Pedders) for $14 saftey check, get the report... tell them thanks and leave.
Then buy Nolathane or even better Superpro(It's the blue ones...lol), a six pack of your favourite beer and some mates on the weeknd to swap them out.
P.S GET A WHEEL ALINGMENT after you finish.
Sounds like sway bar link pins mate- perfect opportunity to go to the Nolathane 'S' type pins which aren't very much. Pedders sell an OEM brand ball joint type but I wan't too impressed with them and they cost a fair bit more than the Nolthanes anyway.
All good options one i suggest is that the retaining nut on shock absorber has come loose i had this happen everytime i went over a bump or pothole id get a knocking in the front

Problem was fixed a few days after the post, was the sway bar link pins, one of the rubbers had decided a life in the gutter was better then on my car and jumped of so it was moving up and down on the pin and washer. got a set of nolathane S bend pins from the wreckers, brand new.. well looked like maybe 2 weeks old lol
The pin kit (complete with bushes) and replacement bushes only are bugger all brand new mate. Worth keeping in mind incase the bushes flog out again.
