Default Boot rod? snapped. Help with pics please!

So i closed my boot, started walking away, heard a very load snapping noise as if metal was snapping, opened my boot, what do you know some metal had snapped.

It's the metal rod which makes the boot fly open after you unlock it, and for the life of me, i can't figure out how it goes back in? I'm gunna jump down to the wreckers when i can to pick one up so if anyone could post pictures of this magic rod and how it goes it, would be much appreciated...

    Thanks

lucky for you i just did mine on the vp berlina. you gotta pry it into place with a screw driver or any type of lever you have. its a pain in the ass the first time you do it. go with someone else to wreckers you need a second person to hold it up while you release the rod other wise the boot will come down on your head. i made the mistake of taking my computer nerd stepson and he was friggin day dreaming wile i released the rod and the boot came down on my bald head (clean shaved to the skin). needless to say i left the yard pissin blood everywhere. got the corner perfectly should be 2 rods and i think you gotta take out the left one first. i replaced my left one then gave the hinge pins a sprinkle of wd40 and presto changeo it pops up like the crypt keeper in the casket...

Ours broke off too.We use a broomstick handle to hold ours up atm.Yer it isn't very elegant but it'll do.I was thinking of taking the bootlid off to allow more free play to get it back in.I did 1 many yrs back in the wife's VK.I recall struggling with that 1.I remember i was more worried it was gunna fling off & get me in the wedding vegies while i was in the boot with it.Like being thrown in a boot full of loaded rabbit traps..

I changed one of these in my VN, at the time it was cheaper to go to Holden and buy a new one than go to the wreckers.

Thats a good price. Local wreckers around here quoted like $25 a side so I just got a new pair at trade for about $20 I think.
