I have a 93 vp v6 ute, and it has a problem in that i have to crank it for 20-30 seconds to get it to start if it hasn't been run for a few hours, switch it off and come back half hour later and it'll start no worries.
When i turn the key on i can't hear the fuel pump until i get the ute started.
I read somewhere that if the fuel pump relay dies it uses oil pressure sensor or something to power the pump.
I have replaced the relay, fuse and upgraded the the pump to a bosch 023.
All the wiring seems to be ok.
Can anyone help me?
It should prime when you hit the ignition the switch on and then switch off after a couple of seconds, the once started the fuel pump is activated by the oil pressure switch which obviously gets oil pressure while engine is running, then the oil pressure switch completes the circuit and activates the pump, idea being if your in a crash the pump turns off and doesnt keep feeding fuel into the engine bay and adding fuel to the fire (if there is one of course). You can short out a connector down near the kick panel is a little hard to find but its there, its a 6 pin plug from memory, you short out the top and bottom pins on one side to activate the diagnostic mode, and the opposite end to activate the fuel pump.
Its seems as if the computer isnt activating the pump, check over the plugs near the battery and around the car, could also be a broken wire somewhere.
