Default VN/VP bonnet release cable (custom length)

    Hey everyone,

Quick question, does anyone have or know where i could get a VP bonnet release cable made to a custom length. I am tidying up the engine bay and want to re-rout the cable to not have it in the bay. (an extra 15-20 cm longer)

    Any help is appreciated.

    Cheers

You could have a look at the wreckers for something like a wagon or a van with a boot release that operates manually or a petrol flap release. All you really need is the cable and cover, it's easy enough to attach at the release handle with a cable clamp off a push bike brake. You can also use throttle cable clamps from a mower shop (Have a look at yer mower) to locate the cable and clamp it securely, they are only $2 or so each and attach with a tec screw to sheet metal on one side and have a locating pin for a 3mm hole on the other. They are much grippier on the cable than the standard clamp. Be careful not to let the end of the cable pop out of the bonnet catch if there is extra slack in the cable at any time because it really sucks trying to get the bonnet open with no cable connected.

Yepp, VT's are longer, but not by 15-20cms. Another J/C user - "THE STATESMAN" has used one in his build up on his Stato, and done a really nice job of it, check it out if you can find it...
