Looking at welding/repairing my VPSS centre caps as I refuse to pay $200 per centre cap and have 4, but they are cracked all bar 1....
Are these made of Polypropelene, ABS, or even PA6??
I need too get the correct plastic for the welding rod....
whats pa6, is that the resin based stuff?... anywho if it dosent say ABS just put some paint thinners on a rag and work in a small area on the back. if the thinners melts the plastic its abs. polyprop isnt affected by solvents... as for pa6 i dont know... oh also you can paint directly over abs plastics with no plastic primer needed, the paint will bite into the raw plastic...
dont sweat the petty... pet the sweaty...
Yep, PA6 is a glass filled (polyamide) nylon with 30% glass content. Im thinking it's ABS, as you said, but not sure. To add insult to injury, they dont have the triangle on the back which would make it easy to find out...Im pretty sure it's not prop, but it seems oily in it's finish which throws me abit- Might have to get my books out again- Maybe try your trick 1st...
