    Default VP Warning lights

    Hey guys
I have a VP Berlina 1991 3.8L V6, one of the warning lights flashes on sometimes (very rarely) I only ever see it of a night time with the lights on in the colder weather, i dont know if it flashes on at other times and i simply dont see it....
The light is on the right side of the instrement cluster and is red, i belive it is either the oil or battery light. The light stays on for less than a second, hence why im not possitive which one it is.
    Has anyone seen this before?
or have any ideas as to what might cause the light to act this way?

    Thanks in advance

might have to find out what light it is if you want the right answer... for example my batter light came on but went off after the car warmed up.. it was the voltage regulator/brushes on the alternator, bought a new one for 45 bucks... check your brake lights too, sometimes the looms corrode from moisture and the warning light might pop up every once and a wile if the circuit is interrupted...

had a look at the scans of the lights, it has to either be oil, battery or posibly the park the brake, i think the latter is unlikely....
its very hard to figure out which one it is as it only does it very rarely and for litterally less than a second.....
as for the tail light looms, that sounds very plausable as the taillights (being a vp :P) used to fill up like fish tanks (a bit of silicone fixed that), do you know which light would illuminate if there was a short? (they are severly rusted)

Oil = probably oil pressure switch getting old
Batt = probably loose terminal or brushes getting short in the altinator
Brake = fix the short in the rear tail light looms or replace them.

as i mentioned before the brake light is on the left, and i belive the light that im seeing is on the right.....
would the short alternator brushes cause it light up so rarely and breifly?

undo your drive belt undo your bolts to the alternator and lift it to get at your voltage regulator. should be 1 plug and 2 flathead screws. my brushes were warn down to little nubs... new ones are cheap. might not be your problem but have a look anyway...
