Default Just a couple of questions regarding VP Calais 5L

Hi guys and gals, got a couple of quick questions, the check engine light comes on after a few seconds from starting the car, did a fault check but keeps coming up 12 (ok), also while i was checking for codes i noticed the electric fan was not running, checked fuses and relay etc but all look good, any ideas would be a great help, thanks.
Ps, its a VP Calais 5L.

which light? is it the engine light that looks like a engine or is it the check light looks like this (!) also the v8 has a clutch fan so that mite be why fan dont come on and its best to read computer straight after light comes on or if it reads 12 let it flash 12 4 or 5 times it may flash another code

gday hy_ryder, well with mine it does 1 flash, pause, then two quick flashes, indicating "12" but while car is running the check engine light is on and cant work out why, and to be honest once it has started and running it runs great with plenty power...........

that front fan is for the a/c only. it doesnt come on during general use. turn the a/c on while stationary and wait and see if if it comes on to confirm its working

also 1 more question, gonna sound stupid, but to check the timing on a 5L VP, im told to earth out the plug which is used to check error codes, does this mean bridging the black & white wires like when checkig for error codes? Or actually earthing it somehow?

If it helps... yes that front fan SHOULD come on when its in diagnostic mode (i.e the plug is pinned)

put the timing light clip on the spark lead closest to the battery, make sure its facing the right way.

put some white out on the timing notch on the balancer, connect the + and - to the battery and away you go
Hit me up with some reputation points if i've helped you out! (Star in the bottom left!) Cheers!
