hey guys im looking at swapping out the rooted dash and heater box in my wagon for a vq stato climate control heater box and dash i have the stato still in one piece atm and was wandering if it will be a difficult job to replace the dash with the loom to suit any input u guys have would be awsome
Converting VN to Climate Control
If you have all the loom and sensors on the Statesman then it's a few days work and swap all the bits over. Getting the heater box out is the hardest bit - or the copper tubes out from the fire wall.
I done 2 conversion now - one using all the bits from a Statesman (best method as it's plug n play with re gas) and the graft in with the 88 wagon whitch has extra steps involved. Both cars have been working with climte control for some time and I'm glad I took the time to do it.

my only problem is i have been told ill have to find a v6 stato to take all the dash and loom from as i found out the one i got my hands on was a 5 litre is this true
The V8 loom has differnt plugs in the engine bay with the wire layout. Have a look at the 3 connectors that hook in around the battery area and compair the pin out to your V6 to make sure. All the other plugs will be the same as the V6 and can only plug into 1 place along the way and cant be mixed up. The heater box and loom is the same as is the Vac lines. The cluster will have different tacho and temp gauge (no biggy) but will work and would just need the tacho changed to V6.

well if thats the case thats easy i can swap a mate the v8 cluster for a v6 one so thats all cool then ill take a week off to do the swap as the aircon box and the whole loom in the wagon is rooted atm, i went to hook up the heaterbox to power again and for some reason it was crossed over into the speaker wiring and fried my whole stereo
