    Yep, as people have said tail lights are lower 2 and top 2 are brake/tail lights. Of course that doesn't include the parcel shelf brake light

    I reckon it would be better if only two were tail lights and all 4 for brake. Greater difference.
    I also wish they would make LED replacement brake globes legal seeing they come on instantly, not 1/10 second later.
    Why aren't they legal? Is it because the red of the LED doesn't match the red of the plastic lens?

    Pub247 and alpha_au are correct. All the globes stayed double filament though.

    I think that the LED's aren't legal because they don't meet (or simply haven't been tested to meet) requirements for visibility at an angle to the lens.

    Actually i think you misread, I'll make this as plain as i can

    For Brake illumination:
    VN= all 4
    VP= top 2

    With parkers and headlights selected ON:
    VN + VP use all 4 (on the low voltage part of the globe)

    I hope this clears things up

    The globes have 2 filaments which are both 12 Volt they would be a different wattage (the brake light being the highest) so would draw different amounts of current and have a different brightness.

    Probably so they can't get mixed up on the production line seeing only one kind.
    Or less kinds of globe to stock?

    VN = all 4 brake, have a look at the difference in the VN to VP looms, if you have a VN and it only has 2, chances are you have a VP loom, if your manual says only 2, your manual is wrong

    The VN handbook shows that theres supposed to be two stop/tail lamps each side-1 top and 1 bottom, as well as the rear window brake light..These taillights use duel filament bulbs,which are 21w for the stop lamp and 5w for the taillight.These bulbs have different spaced holding pegs so a normal single filament bulb will not fit.(Ive seen the single ones just jammed in there before though,I guess some people just have no idea.)

    So.... if you had your VP wired a la VN with 4 stop lights and just say only 3 were working and you got pulled up, even though you were required to have only 1 per side I wonder how you would go :-)
