    Default VN Engine Code 13

Hi All just wondering if anyone can shed any light.

The engine light has been coming on intermitently for the last couple of days when the engine has heated up and usually when under higher revs (going up a hill for eg)

I am getting code 13 from the ECU. Thing is the O2 sensor was only replaced last year so it's pretty much brand new. Apart from that car runs fine, doesn't overheat but is probably due for a tune up.

Question is how long can i drive around with this code (short on cash at the mo) and also will resetting the ECU help or hinder?

    Cheers

    mate,

i had this the other day, if you read my latest post i wouldn't touch it LOL, i drove with it flickering for like 3 months (not one issue) mine did it on hills too, i only changed it when it started coming on more often. if there is no raw fuel coming out your exhaust just leave it.

The O2 sensor can become contaminated and stop working properly. Things that can ruin it include coolant leaking into the inlet or outlet ports or using the wrong tpe of sealing paste on the thread. Shop around for price when I bought a VN O2 sensor a few years back prices for a genuine part from dealerships ranged from $50 to $100.

    Thanks mate

It's weird because it only comes on on the way home at night when the engine has warmed up and not in the morning. The car isn't garaged but is in secure parking during the day so the cooler temp in the morning seems to be stopping it from registering whatever is causing it.

I'll take it to get look at in a couple of weeks.

    Cheers
