It's a fairly big job for what I think is very little gain. The conversion guide makes it look easy but it's anything but.

Anything but? Its shit easy pre VR, ever done one on a VZ? Then you can complain.
It always seems easier when your reading about it cause your not actually doing it!![]()

Well you gain a clutch :-)
Not many automatic commodores have won Bathurst :-p I agree manual = Win
Found it not too bad, install the pedal box when you have a free couple hours before the conversion day

Hey guys, this is probably gonna seem a bit weird..... but what do I need to convert from manual to auto..![]()
Shit loads of beer.
Gear box, flywheel, clutch, pedal box, clutch cable, tail shaft, manual loom (can modify the auto loom if necessary), manual tune (not strictly necessary but highly recommended), manual plastic bit for the center console.
I have done a few of these and most of it is self explanatory. 2 tips though - Remove the whole steering column when you are fitting the pedal box. It makes fitting the pedal box way easier and its quite a easy job. Also, undo the 2 bolts that hold the steering rack to the cross member (plus the bolt that holds it to the column) and drop the whole thing down. Let it hang there off the tie rods - makes getting extractors in a million times easier (if you have them).
