    Default VP V8 Fuel injectors

Hi all, got a problem with my VP V8 really hard to start when warmed up, when it does start theres black smoke etc, today i changed the coolant temp sensor, after reading on here that this could be the problem but has had no effect, so was thinking its possibly leaking injectors. My question is wheres the best place to buy reco / new injectors from in Melbourne? It's for a VP Calais HSV V8

Had a similar problem on my old GTS a few years back. After much frustration it turned out to be the ECU. If you have a mate with another VN/VP then swap them over and see if that fixes the problem. Worst case is they should cost max $30 at a wrecker.

thanks Reaper, i have never done an ecu so dont really know much about them, will any vn-vp (auto/manual) ecu do the job? i know i will need to use my memcal, is the memcal a pull out push on thing? or is soldering needed, and where on the ecu is it located? thanks.

get a vn-vp v6 ecu same ecu apart from the memcal and normally cheaper LOL.swap in your memcal and off you go.but it could be the injectors i just pulled a set out of a vp calais and 6 of 8 were dribbling and making it hard to start and run shit no power.check the fuel pressure regulator vacum hose as well

hey guys, well i changed the ecu with one from a vn v6 calais and seems to have fixed the problem! All i want to do now is work out why it cranks over so slowly, i replaced the battery but i suspect the starter is playing up, thanks fellas.

does it crank alright when cold, but slow when hot? check out this thread, might help you out: 5ltr won't crank when hot

if you get a new starter, make sure you get a reduction starter

gday levymetal, yeh i had a read, looks like your car was doing exactly what mine is doing, when cold it cranks ok but when hot it struggles, i tend to think its the starter cos a while back i had a vs Calais v8 had the exact same issue, turned out to be the starter, i will check all connections etc before purchasing a new starter, i checked the earths yesterday they looked ok......will keep you posted, thanks for the help.

well i got it sorted, was a buggered solenoid, went to tighten up the lead cos it was loose, but the plastic pretty much disintegrated, so i pulled out the starter and replaced the solenoid with one i had here off my old valiant, worked a treat lol.

haha nice work, good to know that you didn't need a new starter! i never did anything about my problem, it's still a bit slow to crank when hot but not as bad as it once was . so it doesn't bother me any more
