hey i got a vn and have to keep it a v6 for p plate regulations...
just wondering how i can get the most power out of it the cheapest way. ive been told 5ltr throttle body and vs s2 coilpack. what else is there to do? i already have a 2.5" straight exhuast with hotdog... anything else i should know of?
Whats p plate regulations? i thought any mods were illegal.

yeh p platers in vic cant have any mods at all inc extractors...
im not fussed about how many mods i have aslong as it stays as an N/A v6 =]
There is SO many theads that cover this.... Look at Mace in the Sponsors section.
I'm pretty sure theres a D.I.Y mod that you can do with the Buick throttle body to make it open fully.
Just start searching, the only thing you accomplish by asking these sorta things is getting burnt.

yeah thats what i thought no mods wasnt 100% sure. Internal mods like roller rockers, cam, head work stuff like that that the police man carnt see would be better but you could add a cai hi-flow cat get a fan belt with no a/c a good chip check that you throttle bodys opening 100% theres a few more things but thats all i can think of atm.

put it this way bud dont bother getting one of them 70mm throttle bodys as i lost power, and didnt acheive nothing
3.9's, cam and a built box should go good, well with my rebuilt motor and cam with 3.9's ran 15.5 currently getting a 2500 converter...
i spent already hmmm 8grand+ lol so just being serious dude if you think its worth it go ahead and do it but dont get me wrong im happy to have gone where i have and can say that its quicker then your alloytechs and 5l''s but in saying that really for n/a its not gonna go anywhere.
8k would just about get you an LS1 powered car nowadays.
why not save up for one when your off your P's? keeping in mind it IS illegal to mod on your P's anyway.

You are wasting your time even putting petrol into a VN V6 LOL. Put it on gas and save your money hardcore man. Get a sweet sound system, you can always rip that out and put it in your new car.

OP: if you are adament that you want to keep it a V6 then stick an ecotec in it, then go see MACE and buy one of everything.
The VN V6 is a tired old dog, and (without boost) you will struggle to make any power worth writing home about.
How so when say a ve sv6 is well over 20?? also 8 grand to stick it to 5l's and alloytechs on your p's is worth it =)
i think to still retain within the p plate laws, its worth it but its just like saying you spent 10grand on a ve alloytech to go mid 14's or whatever they do....

its like going bracket racing at the drags and having restrictions like from super stock to super street.
P platers are only allowed N/A and we are all put in the same bracket so staying within these restrictions and making something of it well thats something different...
I wouldnt change nothing im happy to have a quick legal well criticize all you want the cars still N/A within the restrictions given.

Fair enough but in all seriousness no cop has ever diked me for anything or my mates we all have the one thing noticeable and that is extractors.
Been pulled up multiple times and just say its running rough and its due for a service they dont really touch you if you have a N/A 6 performance wise only if your car is low and spooled been there done that did my car properly and haven't been looked at again.

3.9's with lsd 1400-1500 best bang for buck youll ever have.
But i would still do the box as tired old vn boxes are known for slipping.
a stock vn motor with 4.11's and a box built will run 15.6 thats pretty good i say for a kick around vn 6.
