Morning
Bit of an ignoramus Q but where is the ECM located in a VN - is it on the passenger's side and is replacing them an easy enough thing to do?
Cheers
Az
very easy to replace
Power is measured in DECIBEL
Hi yes its easy. THere maybe a cover over the ECU that you need to drill the rivets out before you can access it behind the kick panel. Just disconect the battery. Pull out the loom by unclipping them and pulling at the same time. Take out the 2 screws at the bottom and its out. Swap over ecu. Easy
It's a good idea to keep the MemCal - "chip" in common parlance - with the car as there are small differences made within model runs and updates.
To do that, undo the screws on the aluminium case and swap the blue plastic holder that contains the MemCal into the "new" ECM. There are two clips on either side that fold down to release the holder.
If you have to buy an ECM, some JD and all JE Camira - located under the dash, to the left of the radio and LD Astra and N13 Pulsar - under the passenger seat - use the same ECM and are sometimes cheaper to buy than Commodore ECM's. You must swap the MemCal on these, no matter what.
