what tailshaft do i use with a t56 behind a 5.0 ? is it a standard t5 manual tailshaft or custom made ? also where could i buy a hydrolic pedal box set up ? including clutc master cyl n junk.
vs series 3 had the getrag gearbox with a hydraulic clutch setup, dunno if that will bolt into your vp though (some say the series 2 vs also was hydraulic, but i own one with a cable-clutch T5)
mal wood in warwick qld makes hydraulic pedal boxes but they go for damn near $900 i think. he's the man u want to talk to about the swap
front half of the shaft is different. The rubber coupling that goes from g/box to tailshaft is a different size from VT1 5.0L to VT2 gen3
im not paying that for a pedal box,vs will fit. i found out either VL turbo manual or serise 3 vs pedal boxes are the go, ive heard about the suposed serise 2 but i havent seen enough to be convinced. i cant justify mal wood's pricing. going by my own pricing even with a brand new box it only comes to $4800 im not going brand new tho, i will do the conversion for about 3k, just under. and i thought the tail shaft was diffrent, ill just send it off to hardy spicer than.
i have 3,9s bud, so wont be changing them, in last gear i will sit on 1700 rpm at 100 ks. they cost me 650 to get installed. the box is costing me 1500, brand new clutch was around 400, tailshaft will cost 700 at most, thats everything brand new and custom made. if you use a vt - vz box you will need a custom spigot bush thats about an inch long but you just get it from the hardware store its just copper pipe, if you use a VE box you can get away with just sitting the bush out about 6mm and you wont have a problem there. the pedal box im asuming will cost about 200 at most, custom lines are about 100. comes to $2900. but please note, the pedal box, tailshaft are only rough, i could see them being much less. with the bellhousing you hone it out to suite the started motor, nothing much. if there is anything i have forgotten please let me know.
What bellhousing are you using.
stock t56 but you just hone it out a little for the starter motor to sit in. there the exact same bolt pattern.
So does that mean it can use the 5l flywheel and clutch system.
yeah, sorry i didnt make that specific enough. you use the 5.0 fly wheel and clutch. the input shaft is the same teeth size, the length is shorter tho.
