False Knock Retard

Anyone had experience with false knock retard because of noise from valkve gear, bearings or piston slap. Get periods of upto 8 deg retard when auto up changes & during light load cruise. No problem under heavy load. May be auto up change & cruise condition allows the loose bits to clank about more which the knock sensor thinks is detonation.

I've not experienced it myself but it does happen with those old things. Most of the V8 tunes will disable the knock sensor safely if it's enabled (HSV models for example). I don't know if it's the same for v6's as far as safety is concerned.
