    So what have you figured is a good spark advance for the v8, i know mine has 30 bloody deg at idle when im not in diag mode, or was i just reading the tune scope wrong lol?

    i run 30->35deg right from 3000rpm, without a real problem, but it needs premium or it pings under WOT

    id run 28-30deg from that range, you wont gain much power on a stocker after 30deg anyway... just make sure your spark slope isnt huge, i run 2deg F1 extension slope .(ATJN runs 10deg or something)

    i tried leaving my memcals out in the sun years ago, till some bas**rd stole them
    grrrrrrrrrrrrr.

    Being a bit of a noob and going through this forum is a bit of a mess, and heaps of links dont work and having trouble sorting it all ect.. I did however manage download tunepro and install it. All i need now is to work out how i get my chip out of the car and hooked into my laptop. Iv also read about erasers aldl's bins ect, do i need to erase my chip and try and build my own program , or can i save the old program ect and just make some tweaks to idle, advance ect. Iam so new to this, but i am sure it is very simple with the right peices of equipment and knowledge, so could somone who has done this please do one post with all that is required and WHERE to get it from, some basic start up info and all the links that work, that would be a huge help

    Check out Welcome to www.moates.net! : Moates.Net. There you will find the interface that goes between your computer and the memcal. There is also a wealth of information on that site. You should also buy a couple of books on the subject and read up. Beyond that be prepared to spend a *lot* of time hunting around the internet.

    Try "How to tune and modify engine management systems" ISBN 978-0-7603-1582-8. Try the forum on that site - there is enough reading there to keep you busy for weeks. Type "memcals" into the search function on this website and google. Like everything on the internet, there is no single repository for tuning - you have to find the bits that are relevant to you.

    Hi All..

    Does anyone have the $A6 definition file for use with tunerpro? For those who don't know, this is the VT 5.0L (5.7 hsv) memcal.

    Alternatively, some info on map locations etc. within the 128K code would help me build my own definition.

    sorry to dig up an old thread but does or can anyone make a memcal for a series 1 vt ? my mate gave me a "high gain " chip but the car dont start so ill stick to the other one...
    stroking is fine but id rather be blown

    Nah Buick engines if i make enough money then I'll be able to make vs chips once I've got a vs sedan the users on here that do tunes use realtime tuning software and have the knowledge and expertise to make the right tune I'm in the process of reading atm I have the software and diagnostic equipment I'm just waiting on the money to buy the hardware and get going

    The eBay sellers have no idea what they are doing they've just stolen other people's tunes made a couple of changes and pass them off as their own and end up screwing your engine for best outcome from any tune you will need higher octane fuel to get the most out of your tune

    The bigest problem I found was getting hold of spare memcals. The wreckers around here would only sell complete ECUs for $150 each, so I had to give up doing tunes for other people. I still do the odd one here and there if someone cant find someone to do one or whatever,but they have to send me a spare memcal first.

    Yeah I'm still tossing up I really want a vs I like the sound of the ecotec engine even if its unregistered
