How fast would the above go in bog stock condition? Also, how much power would it need to get a VN/VP body shape to a genuine 200 mph / 320 kph?
And no, I am not going to try it :-P

Dont have a match above for what your after but it would be very similar to the statesman.
As for your other question, interesting to find out would be how fast did the group A's get at bathurst down conrod?

sv5000 was good for about 240
vngrpa close to 250
vn vp has very good aero dynamics for its day but i wouldnt wanna be going 250kph in one
anyhting over 180 is crazy those cars were never made to go these speeds lol

I know the stato is a bit heavier but surely this can't be right?
Different figures depends on who's doing the testing, on what track/surface and with what load (I think that some of the magazines test(ed) with a full fuel tank and a passenger).
Also the first VN's tested yielded some very quick times. It's possible that they were "carefully selected" by GMH, something not unknown to happen.
Standard VN V8's were speed limited in the ECM to 220km/h, V6's to 210km/h.
Sketchy down conrod. what a sound though!!

195....I've seen a stock VN V6 off the clock 220+....don't ask
Standard speedo reads about +10%, give or take tyre error. At 220 on some VNs, you can expect to be doing high 190s matched to a good GPS![]()

To reach 320kph safely, you'd want at least 400hp, good gearing, a wider than standard track, expensive tyres and well sorted underbody aero![]()

In the book "Autobiography" the making of the VE Commodore, Holden said the VN had a coefficient of drag of 0.31 whereas the VE has a Cd 0.34 i.e worse.

We owned a brand new VN V6 back in 1988,one of the very first ones to be built, and it used to do about 210 absolutely flat.Ah,the good old days,I miss radar detectors..and they werent that much of a handfull,I used to sit on 100 mph everywhere I went in that thing, but of course the VN was a brand new car back then.Ive driven a hell of a lot worse cars at these speeds though.Name any old holden or ford- now the ARE a handful to hang onto at high speeds.
