So I still have bog stock springs and shocks on my VP exec V6 Live Axel (it floats like a butterfly and stings like a... tug boat) and am FINALLY getting round to getting new springs and shocks and wanted to ask some Q's and get advice so I know I'm doing it right first time instead of piss farting around. From what I can find most of the advice floating around is for Super and Ultra low set ups...
Due to the environment my car is used in (rough dirt roads to get home/often towing trailers to the tip etc.) I only want Lows, will I need an adjustable pan hard rod? From what I can gather I don't unless I'm getting into super low territory...
Secondly, its currently on VT SS 17's, will I need to get the guards rolled if I drop it down?
Thirdly, does anything major have to happen other than removing the old springs and shocks/struts and putting new ones in?
Lastly, any general advice from people in the know?
I'm planning on getting them from gslrallysport, they're the best deals I've been able to dig up and its always good to support sponsors =]
Cheers
It should be ok with the wheels you have, I have pedders sportsrider equivalent lows on my wagon with 18" 235s and the right rear rubs the inside on the chassis when i turn left too hard. i probably need a panhard rod to centre mine or need thinner tyres, you will probably be ok with a sedan. you will enjoy it, makes a huge difference and feels very sporty.
Most of the time matching up low king springs takes messing around finding what sits right on your car.
If you use your car for towing and so on a set of king heavy duty springs should do fine. If the original springs are in good condition. i.e they haven't sagged you can get them compressed if you want them to sit a bit lower.
Rather than get air shocks which are overpriced you can't go wrong with decent Monroe GTs or Magnums, and Polyair Bags for value for money and a heavy duty setup
