Hey guys,
Checked my car for faults today and got back 44 and 45, i understand that’s 44 o2 sensor lean and 45 o2 sensor rich. The o2 sensor has just been replaced about 2 months ago by an ntk (ngk) o2 sensor. The car is also on gas and the car is sometimes hard to start on petrol.
My question is this how do i go about fixing this? is it running lean on petrol but rich on gas or will the gas give an error anyway? Will it need a tune for petrol or something?
Any help would be much appreciated
It will always throw the code when running on gas because the O2 sensor doesn't affect anything while on gas. The ECU changes fuel delivery based on what the O2 sensor signal voltage is, the ECU doesn't control the gas delivery, only petrol. Don't worry about it.
When I run mine on gas it starts easy and runs fine but on petrol it's a bit ruff when at idle.. I need to drain the petrol tank and put new petrol and filter in.. Do you run both all the time?
thanks for the responses, i use petrol a bit not much though given the price, does any one know what would cause the hard starting on petrol mainly when warm? sometimes it turns over for like 10 seconds before it starts
Maybe try clearing the ECM memory - remove fusible link for ~20 secs - then drive on petrol for 10-20km and see if the hard start persists. If the ECM is seeing bogus fuel mixtures on LPG it will be trying to correct for them and learning incorrect fuel maps.
hey did it today seemed to help, idles a bit better too but will this problem persist as i drive it on gas?
Yes. The best thing to do is get dual maps, one for petrol, one for gas that switch over when the fuel is switched from one to the other.
