Hi there...Just new to the forum,Ive got an 80 series landcruiser that I have just put a 304 in which was from a vq statesman. And having some dramas with cooling. Ive just put a new landcruiser petrol radiator in and because of the position of the motor now I cant run with the clutch fan. So Twin thermos are the only option. Now the problem is how do I go about wiring them up? Because I dont think this set up is designed to run through the computer. But If I dont run them through the computer then the computer is going to sense the motor is running to cold and its going to run ritcher, hence using more fuel than it should be. And I know there are a few people that have done the thermo conversion. Would be very much appreciated if anyone could shed some light on this.

Have you looked into davies craig switches? I am not a hundred percent sure it suits your needs as i have only just heard about them myself

Yeh but not sure about by passing the computer, I know there the go for older non injected 5.0 litres.
The ECM won't care how the eng. temp. is maintained just so long as it is. The Davies-Craig switch will work but I have had them leak between the rubber seal and radiator hose. They also measure the coolant temp. in the hose, not the engine.
There is provision in the V8 memcal to switch a thermo fan relay but in the original application it is an auxiliary fan that is switched i.e. it is switched at too high a temp. to use to switch a main fan. The MemCal can be rewritten to lower this temp..
You might be able to use the Jaycar/Silicon Chip voltage switch using thevoltage from the coolant temp. sensor to the ECM as the input. Wiring it in would be easy but I think that there will be a problem in that the CTS voltage has a step in it wrt to temp. vs voltage and the same voltage may be present at two different temperatures.
