Yeah I want to mod it but I have little cash hence the vn and I want to take it back to standard when I sell it so yeah help?
sim metals, the cheapest bang for torque u will ever get
Lower it and put Intercepters on..
Diff gears!
charcoal bumpers, black ceptors, lowered,de badged and venetian is what id do if i owned a white vn and was looking for cheap reversible mods.
Where would I get the bumpers???
you just paint yours with charcoal bumper paint most auto stores would have it. but you have to thouroghly clean them with prepsol first and prime them with plastic primer.
Good tyres, good oil, good shocks and good springs. It makes a difference if it's all worn. Oh and urethane bushing kit, mine is as tight as a nun's #### when cornering.
Forget modding it, just fix what needs fixing, i'm sure you will spend up quickly on things like bushes, shocks, exhaust and all the other wearing parts.
Looks or Performance?
First things first, take the advice of the above posters, replace/repair any worn out/broken parts. This will make it better to drive, and more sellable in future.
Performance: For starters. Find a used set of king spring super lows, and lowered shocks to suit. Find a S/C CAI at the wreckers, or run a duct from the stock airbox to the front bar. Get a tuned memcal chip (there are forum members who can do one for you) Easy enough to find another stock airbox later to return it all to stock.
Looks: Super low kings will help, window tint (may as well leave it on when selling), light tint on stock taillights. Cheap set of rims, or chrome dress rings on stockies.
Cost me $500-$1000 so far on what I consider essential maintenance and I'm considering a rebuilt steering rack before the one in it blows ass with near 300,000km on it. I'm pacing things, would be easy to blow another $500, just replace 10 $50 items like all the intake gaskets and rocker gaskets or the front bushings, balljoints, panard rod nolathane $20. Tyres are a good $300 for 245/17s that are not totally shit compound or noisy. The plus side of it is that in another 10 years cars that have been taken care of rather than modded will be the ones still around if they aren't crashed or thrashed to death.
I need a drink, I've spent a lot making this car decent :/
Car only needs shocks and rocket cover gaskets and injectors it's only done 134000 km
Oh ok well I'm on a phone so I don't see it
I've got a 2nd hand pressure tested (Selby's Nowra) VN steering rack that I want $75 for if you are interested. Ph 0401386692. I was going to use it in my VP until I realised they are different from a VN. Cheers.
Remove the belmouth in the intake
removing the bellmouth does jack shit,i did it in mine and there is no difference performance wise, besides the bellmouth is only in S2,this is a 1989 which is S1,cheap modsave up and do exhaust bit by bit, stereo obviously,do a complete service, and when u buy plugs and leads,go the dual point plugs and blue bosche performance leads, and for the love of god check the gap on the plugs,u will gain fuel econemy and gain a bit of power, make sure you use 95 octane in ur tank normally and do not go near e85 or e10,use 98 octane once a month,ur engine will thank you,get a cooler running thermostat, the cooler the engine the more power u will make coz these engines build up more heat than u think. buy some calais interior, its valour and always looks good,i picked up mine for $50 with one mark on it,and buy some VS door trims to suit coz they have the speaker pods, build a CAI,dont just buy one coz half the time it wont fit, make your own by sending a pipe from your airbox down to the bumper and use a K&N panel filter, easy and effective
Ok guys stop saying fix it my dad will fix it for free if I can't but thanks
think before oct 89 the vn has double valve springs, diffrent cam and a slightly more aggressive tune (different computer). i cant find the old thread that was on the running changes to the vn from the factory... 88greenvn OCR'd some info from a manual... ive got a pre detuned model as well.... there just a little quicker off the line is all...
dont sweat the petty... pet the sweaty...
One motor has 125 kw (mine) and the other has 127 kw but the 125 has more torque
