knocking noise trans?

just took tranny out of vn to change front seal. it was leaking badly got it back in now a knocking noise! it pretty loud too, any ideas?

Did you torque all the bolts to speck?

yeah. the ones from torque conv to flex plate. followed instructions from a genuine manual iv'e got. was sure everything was good.

Might be silly question but is the seal not in backwards?

hope not! i think it can only go one way, but i will take off the little dust cover and check. doubt its the seal though bcause its not leaking trans oil.

yeah rear mount done up but i will check again, knock seems to be in rear of engine.

you can use a short length of garden hose as a stethoscope. It's remarkably effective in working out where a noise is coming from. Good luck with the noise.

seems to run quiet when i start up then start to click after half a minute or so. sure the converter is right in the gears all work ok. got me puzzled got some time tomorrow i'll check all the mounts etc.
