    Default Cams?

ok so im building my 91 executive VN to be a burnout car for the nats but also my daily driver, its now time to get some performance mods going,i want to keep the buick V6 coz no one else does it so i want to be different, what are some good mods to get high torque for burnouts, ive heard cams do quite alot but have no idea about them, current mods are a 2 1/2 inch exhaust with a high flow 2 1/2 inch cat, extractors coming soon, dont want to have to spend too much, but i want some respectable numbers...and do not suggest a V8...

have you considered forced induction? If so, a supercharger would be your best bet for low end torque. That and shorter ratio gearing..

to add, saying you want respectable performance but don't want to spend is like saying you want to drink a cup of water but don't want want to fill the cup with water... Performance and money in hand in hand.

yes as above shorter diff gears would be a must. cam choice will depend on what your going to do with the rest of the engine

well what would be your ideas? i do want that low end torque for burnouts,i was considering forced induction but thats a bit out of my price range atm which is why i jumped straight to cams,i heard that all the blueprinting and all that internal stuff is a good way to go to recover lost numbers so i was thinking of doing that,so a cam to go along with that would be great,i dont know how they work really, kinda a noob at those...lol

i hope you've been quoted for fitting those cams. It can cost you a bomb. You don't want to take it to just anybody either. Go to a reputable cam specialist. All in all, do basic modifications. Intake to Throttle body enlargement as that improves throttle response, hi flow panel filter etc. Honestly though, if you're able to fit a supercharger, do it! It will make it at least thirty to fifty percent quicker, and will boast a shitload more of low end power.

im sorry but if you cant afford a supercharger then theres no way you'll be able to afford any internals. perhaps if u tell us your budget we can help you out better

    3.9s from a pintara diff.

for 2500 you could probably do a fairly.... ghetto turbo set up

or possibly an SC14 + DIY mounts depending on your abilty you could get away with it cheaper

There's usually a reason for not many people doing V6's!

this whole thread stinks of fail.

VN's are born and bread skid beasts, they dont need mods.

for the record, the reason why no one does V6's is the exact reason why you are trying to polish a turd, MORE CUBES = MORE TORQUE, and TORQUE TURNS TYRES.

reason why i said no V8 is because this car is my daily driver and even though im spending money on mods it will still be cheaper in fuel, yes they are born skid beasts but thats what ppl leave them as and i want to take it a step further, everybody just goes the V8 as an easy way out,i want to build something different, you dont often see an executive rock up at the summernats and rip it with the 8s,ive already got an engine, whats the point in getting rid of it,spending more money on a V8 then even more money on mods for that, all i want is to increase torque for burnouts,if all your going to give me is crap about what i want with my own car then dont bother posting.
