Hi there,
Just want to ask what the go is with the fuel system...just put a 304 into a landcruiser and is running fine most of the time. Im running a hp in line fuel pump installed (new) for a 5.0 vp commodore. Now the problem is I can drive it all day and not have any trouble with it, then all of a sudden I hear the pump and fuel rail howling having a whinge (Im thinking its starving for fuel) then shits itself for 10 miniutes and wont start. Im thinking because the pump isnt gravity fed maybe the pump is sucking air and causing an air lock at the pump.I can probably install an in tank pump which Im hoping will fix the problem, Any thought would be appreciated, and some Idea on what kind of pressures the in tank pump needs to be would be great.

The thirsty old V8s used a low pressure in-tank primer pump, which in turn fed the external high pressure. They also ran a dampener in-line to prevent fuel pulsation, but that bit isn't critical.
If you just get yourself a standard Commoore in-tank pump with the right sender you should be laughing![]()
