buy yourself a second hand gregories from ebay if you can, it'll have all the info you need.
the best way to check for injector pulse is to unplug them one by one, and plug a wedge style parker globe in the socket. You can just use one from your own headlight assembly. Crank the car over, and see if the globe in the injector plug flashes. It should flash noticably. Do this with every injector.
Second, check each spark lead for fire, by either clipping a test light over each lead, or unplugging them one by one from the spark plugs and jamming a screwdriver in the socket of each lead. Ensure the screwdriver is contacting the metal clip in there, and hold it close to the engine block. Upon cranking over, you should see a spark leap from the screwdriver onto the engine block. Do this for each lead.
You may find one faulty injector plug (i've had them before), or a faulty coil pack (also common)
do it!
