Had this happen twice recently. it goes like this.
Leave the car and it's deadlocked. when i return i un deadlock the car. then press the button to open the doors. nothing. so i get into the car by way of key, and try to start the car. ofcouce it wont start as the "press button" warning alerts me - so car just turns over. So out i get and go around to the passengers side door. use the special key to turn immobilizer off. go back to the ignition no press button warning. however the car still only turns over and i hear no fuel pump working. so repeating immobilizer off - start engine over and over. finally something happen. i hear the pump breath life, but the press button warning is on ?. If anyone has any idea's at all I'd be grateful. i feel it's the immobilizer, but was not aware if the immobilizer works the doors also ?. is there any easy way to get around this happening. maybe some wire loose ?, something i can find as i have no idea where the thing is or wire that it runs off..
Also checked button battery all good, have 2 buttons. has only done this 3 times. but twice this year in the last 2 months.

i havent encountered any commodores with ignition barrel problems yet. maybe another member will chime in on that one... the override lock is basically 2 tiny points of contact that rotate and make connections to engage your bcm or bypass it (in simple terms) turning it to the off position might be where your getting a bad connection and causing problems starting your car. to find out weather thats your problem or not your gonna have to remove your kick panel and drill out the rivets over the ecu cover to get at the wires to the back of your override lock and just bypass it with a hidden switch or something. it will be the best way to eliminate if its that or your ignition or not. its easier than taking apart your steering column and messing with that stuff (in my opinion)... but then again it could have nothing to do with your problem... override lock barrels failing are common though...

Thanks very much for the help. I'm currently tossing around everything in my head. keep it as back back up and do everything possible to fix it. sell it to the nieces BF and pass this information onto him. or strip it and drag it. either way reg is up next month not much time to think. thanks again much appreciated..
