so i have considered loads of options to rebuild my car,ive come across a VZ V6 for 1500,is that worth getting? if so what obstacles would i hit if i wanted to put it into my VN? ive heard the computer would be a problem and possibly the gearbox because this engine dosent come with one,ive never done a commodore transplant so any infor would be great.
Of course you need a transmission. Plus all relevent computers to control it. All up i'd put an estimate at $5000 to do the conversion.

If you do, you WILL need a gearbox, ALL ECUs and Loom, maybe engine and gearbox mounts, etc.
I'd rather throw back in the Buick V6. But if you really want to convert to something different, go the Ecotec. And if you want power on top of it all, go for the L67. You will need the ECU and Loom for it, but fitting it will be easier, and the conversion will much cheaper to do than an Alloytec.
Woz.
The Alloytech had a lot of teething problems, as did their transmissions. Add that to the servicing complexities of a DOHC motor, the cost of conversion etc, and you may aswell buy a cheap VZ and get essentially the same car but with nicer seats thrown in for the same money![]()
