    Default Running vp v6 timing

    hey guys and girls

I am getting rid of the commy becasue me and my dad are starting a 29 dodge project and what were gunna do is use my commy as a doner. we want to run triple carbs on it just coz we want to lol. Any way for the engine we want to get rid of all the sensors except the timing for the spark plugs so if we just run the crank angle sensor and the coil pack plugged into the ecu and have fuel fed thru the carbs will the engine run?

no you need temp sensors knock sensors and all the rest the best idea i can think of is use a haltec then you can tune with the carbs the dfi on these engines likes all the sensors there if they arnt it will have no idea when to retard or advance

you might even have to cut up a tb for the tps

o2 sensors arnt important because the engine wont be able to control fuel input so the o2 sensors are probaly the only ones you would want to get rid of srry o2 sensor not sensors lol

If you want a carby V6 why not try a Chevy V6, much easier to set up?

It needs all the sensors because it uses all that information to calculate spark advance. I don't know the V6 computer as well as the V8 one, but I think it may retard the timing if it thinks anything is going wrong. Problem is, there's no dizzy to turn forward/back, so you're relying 100% on the computer for your spark map.

I think if you want to keep it non-dizzy, and you're looking at keeping the ecu, you'll need to keep all your sensors or get a controller for the DFI. Maybe you could get a Haltech system up and running? You may have to set it up on static timing on the stock delco - override the advance/retard etc. You'll lose power, but it'll be cheaper than getting a complete DFI controller from the USA which will allow full spark curve mapping.

Alternatively, you could import one with a dizzy from the USA
