Default Cold Air Intake Pictures Needed

    Hey guys,

i just bought a VS v8 CAI and im getting ready to fit it onto my VN, i'm wondering if you guys could direct me a little.

    1. Do you take the fan shroud off and replace it with the CAI ? OR does it sit above the fan shroud ?

    2. I've heard of needing modifications to make it shut, if you could point out to me where you used a heatgun to mod that would be excellent.

    3. My bottom piece of the airbox has been cut previously to allow more flow into the box. Now that i've got the CAI, the adapter at the end is smaller than the hole i've cut, would this cause any problems?

Any ideas on sealing the box, or should i just get a bottom piece from wrecker? OR if someone has the bottom piece for sale in Sydney?

Feedback please ! Oh and Post lots of pics . I can't seem to find enough pics even with the searches, i sure know whats going on i need to see some diagrams

I have a VS HSV CAI on my VP (even though its almost the same as the super6 one).
The one i have, sits on top, and for best effect, you seal it at the back. Although i havn't sealed mine, as 90% of the air is still forced into the box anyway

Making what shut? assuming you mean the bonnet, mine has no problems

The hole wont make a big difference, as its still under the filter, although personally i'd get another one. Also would recommend getting a VS (not sure what models got it) top piece of the airbox, as it has better flow.

Heres a few random pics i could find of mine!

and i'm in a spamming mood, so you's get a pic of my car for free too

I think somewhere about where HSV embossed their logo is where the stock one hits a VP's bonnet: ) good thinking HSV, That's about where you want to be looking to make a slight ding in it (as far as my scetchy memeory goes)

follow the links to 'Commodorenuts' pages, there are some great photos there. The VS CAI I fitted sits above the radiator shroud ( they all do). You should get a new lower-half of the airbox so the CAI fits without any air leaks ( otherwise you will just suck in hot air from the engine bay through any gaps, and defeat the whole purpose of the CAI, which is to provide cold air into the engine....)

    cheers

That looks rad. I really like the look of the V8 CAI more than the V6 one. I might have to invest in that one instead.
