hey guys can someone tell me whats the best transmission fluid for a vp commodore wagon
its a TH700 automatic transmission.
I want to be cautous and careful in whats best for the transmission.
castrol dextron 3, everyone says other stuff ruins it.
people seem to think castrol is the best have a look: which 20w-50 oil is best
Oils ain't oils!
I think that a reasonable good quality oil (as long as your not talking K mart brand and the like) should be fine for a older style motor like the Buick/Ecotec's the key is to change the oil/filters regularly.

Yes I know, if you get anymore manly you are in danger of making yourself pregnant!
For the transmission any fluid based on Dexron 3 or better specifications for example a Penrite or Nulon semi or full synthetic will also be OK. To be honest I had a VN and had mine serviced with a semi synthetic and I could not tell any difference. They may however have a longer service lif. I know the better quality Penrite fluids mention extended service interval.
For the engine you can look up the various lube guides the oil manufacturers have up on the net. I used to use Magnatec 10W-40 in my VN and when I started using that it was a lot quieter especially the lifters.
