hey guys..so i dismantled my throttle body on my 93 vp auto gave it a good clean out noticed i had a small cracked hose that was'nt connected at all so i chopped that back and reconnected it. I have also left out the bellmouth and noticed a copnsiderable difference.
the car doesnt stall when put into park now and seems like its running a lot better/harder.
im a massive noob with cars is there anything else i should be aware of,,,i know most people are saying to rest the IAC by holding it at 3000rpm but i have no taco as its auto
ive also seen people saying to reset the ecm.,..what is this and how do i do it..is it the computer..it kinda feels like its late on changing through gears..is this why?
right, check to see you have clicked the kickback cable all the way in, i made this mistake with mine at one stage where it looked like it was in but it was just a fraction out and it caused late shifting in the box, secondly put the belmouth back in as it makes no difference to acceleration what so ever nor do you gain any KW/HP which was proved on a dyno. its on these forums somewhere, the most it does is lean out the 2 rear cylinders which isn't good for your engine. and as for resetting you can roughly guess it as it don't have to be exactly 3000rpm, just hold it at a reasonable level for the period of time and it should have the same affect.
cheers pal will put it back in tomorrow...yer the kickback cable ..i think is clicked back in but it looks like it has a little more slack on it this time ill post a photo tomorrow
considering the belmouth was put there for a reason in the first place..... it allows the flow of air to be alot more evan between all 6 cylinders and also allows the car to have a smooth idle. and leaning cylinders in any part of the engine isnt good at all.
S1 VN didn't have them and I see a lot of them with 350k + on the clock..
different generation of engine, the series 2 engine was alot more refined compared to the old rattle box series 1. i havent heard of it killing an engine before, but at the same token its not good to have lean cylinders at the same token. plus i cant honestly see the point in removeing something that has no affect on acceleration like everyone seems to think.... your better off getting a 70mm throttle body with a CAI and haveing the elbow ported and polished like iam planning to on mine.
