It depends on what you want to use it for..

Mini-spools make the car uncomfortable to drive in for a daily, and wear down tyres a lot quicker, but are extremely fun..

And LSDs are for towing caravans.

Well it sounds like I've just wasted my money as I don't have a caravan lol

Drive someone else's car that has a spool to see what it feels like.
    Then fit an LSD.

Just whatever you do, don't tow a heavy trailer with a spool. Axles HATE life.

Spools are not dangerous, my mum drives my car in the wet with a spool and has no problem, and you know why? she has common sense and knows how to control the throttle.

Anyone who come on here and says they lost control and blame a spool, are just people who cant control their car and looking for an excuse to not face the that facts that they cant drive for shit.

An LSD and spool both have there benefits and negatives.....
LSD (based on the commodore one's, not decent one
Legal and fine for daily driving, everything you can do legally on the streets they will be fine for.... I would recommend getting it rebuild before getting it put in but aslong as you don't stress it to much you should be fine..

    Spool..
Stong, reliable, predictable, always spins 2. They are illegal (but since when has illegal mods stopped anyone? half the modified cars around are probably too loud , too low, tint to dark, wont pass epa test due to mods etc etc)...... can snap axles pretty easy IFFFF you have a 25 spline axles, if you have 28 spline axles (standard on every vn+) then you wont have a problem.
Also if you care about comfort, the spool might not be for you. I'm not saying they are uncomfortable but I am saying its not as smooth as an lsd and does depend more on the actual driver and how you drive it, suspension and tyres.. I can drive mine without people noticing but if one of my mates drives the car it hops like crazy.
Parking can be annoying for some people, but I don't even notice it anymore and can usually keep the skip to as little as possible because i run sticky tyres.

At the end of the day, you need to ask yourself...... what is the car going to be used for? and are you willing to give up a little bit of comfort and change your driving style slightly for the benefit of a spool.

What I would also note, if you are doing alot of very tight hills (tight hairpins etc), I would suggest a rebuilt lsd but be warned if you do push it to hard there is a chance of wearing it out, Unlikely but possible, the r31 guys seems to take their cars on the track/hills and absolutely demolish their lsd's (same diff)
But if the roads you have fun on are not so tight, then you could go either, the spool really shines on sweepy roads and places like the great ocean road that aren't to tight.. But in places like arthurs seats (the vic guys will know) the tight hairpins where just way to tight for for the car.

note: last time I went to arthurs seat the car had ultra's in the rear, it now has supers and doesn't understeer so much but I still think places like arthurs seat I would have done so much better with an lsd.

I use to daily drive a 180B SSS with a l18 carby turbo(15psi) with 4.11 lokka, Even in the wet i never had a problem with it getting loose unless i wanted it too

So dont be scared of a spool unless u are a sh#t driver!!!!!!!
