hi all
when i drive ma calais round all warmed up when i put it into reverse it makes a ping noise like somethings hitting the tail/drive shaft.
it also shunts into gear when i put it into drive is the transgoing or sumting wroing with tail/drive shaft not sure just wondering cause really dont like it when it does it.
can anione shed sum light on the subject?
thanks for ani ideas or inputs u can give me![]()
Engaging your backward gear will put reverse torque loads on the engine, and lean the engine + exhaust system the opposite way. This can often lead to funny exhaust tapping/pinging/knocking noises in only reverse, if a part of your exhaust system is close to the chassis.
The sudden gear drop into drive is an odd one... would really have to experience it to tell you. I suggest dropping into your local mechanic and getting them to have a listen to that one![]()

when i put it gear generally it doesnt go in smoothly is that the way they are or is it not normal
and maybe my uni joints are rooted on ma tailshaft for the reason for ping noise when shift in reverse
