Hi guys,
while my car was up on a hoist getting new shocks and springs put on the other day, was told and shown that my power steering rack is leaking on the right hand side. Thought so, coz the steering has been a bit grabby and not 100% of late....
The guy quoted $480 (i'm guessing fitted?!) for a fully re-coed one. Is this a good price?
Being a Calais it has the speed sensor thing on it, but is it cheaper/am i able to put a standard non-sensor rack in?
Can anyone recommend anywhere in Brisvegas to supply and fit me, without ripping me off?!! (southside)
Thanks heaps, uluru.![]()
Ive never had it done myself but it sounds pretty reasonable. I can see removal, fitting, then refilling the system with PS fluid taking 2 hours or so and then that allows $300 or so for the reco rack.
I wouldn't want to downgrade to a non speed sensor rack personally. Variable power steering is one of my favorite things in my VS stato. I sometimes forget how good it is until I drive a VS that doesn't have it. Not really worth downgrading to save a few bucks IMO
Thanks Monkey,
was just a thought...! :P
Had heard about it being done but will probly stay with the same type.
Cheers mate.![]()
Good news...
Bought a bottle of Steering Rack and Pinion Stop Leak the other day for a whole $13.85, which advertises a Money Back Guarantee.
Well #@!% me, it works!! Hasn't used or left a drop on the driveway ever since!!
Cool, just saved m'self over 460 bucks!![]()
Yeah, i unfortunately realise that, but will hopefully last until i get some dollars organised...??!
800 bucks, bugger that. Let me know when you want one and i'll put you on to the guy i went and saw, you'll just have to arrange your postage. Still heaps cheaper...
Cheers
