    Default Diff Troubles

    g'day

I bought a 3.7 lsd on thursday and cannot for the life of me get my old diff out. The 4 bolts on the top of the diff are in so tight they're impossible to crack. i've tried my ring spanner, socket and breaker bar sticking my feet against the body somwhere and pulling as tight as i can and they wont budge. does anyone know and easier way? i don't even know how they can be done up so tight in the first place, it's such an awkward spot to get into. any advice would be greatly appreciated at this point.

Well the only thing I can think of that you haven't tried is to unbolt the entire assembly from the body of the car and then get an impact wrench/rattle gun on the bolts.

It sound like a big job but its actually not.

If you decide your going to attack it this way early tomorrow morning, the id suggest to spray the heck out of the suspect bolts with WD40 before bed and then give it one last shot with it still attached to the car before you take the rear assembly off and do it that way.

    Cheers

Four bolts on the top of the diff.

Is this on a VN? I assume it has live axle... if so, which bolts do we mean exactly?

If it's a different car with IRS, then you're going to need to go and buy a 750mm breaker bar and try again, because stud lock is nasty stuff XD ^_^
