Default Just having a bit of a vent

not really a question lol just thought id post and say that my cars previous owners have no clue on how to take care of a car,i just pulled apart my air intake and throttle body, the amount of black crap that was through it all was insane,i mean i could poke my finger into it and leave a dent, thats how much there was. the air filter was dirty on both sides,im guessing he just flipped it over rather than getting a new one,the piping had brown sludge come out when i put the hose and water through it,i used throttle body cleaner on the TB and it was black sludge, then i opened my throttle and it was even worse, the back of the plate had a visible layer or grime,my TB now looks like new, spent half hour on the TB alone, took it for a run after getting it all back together and my god the difference is amazing,so much more responsive on the throttle. lol i quote mighty car mods here - instant 25kw!! lol

do your selves a favour and clean out ur air intake more often so the next person who owns your car dosent have to go through what i did btw my car is 20 years old,i wonder how long its been since it was cleaned last

If the throttle body was that bad you should take off the inlet manifold and clean it out as well the difference in idle afterwards is amazing

That sludge is from the PCV system, most likely the car has had infrequent oil changes and has seen some abuse to chug a fair bit of oil back into the intake. The rats of the inlet manifold/plenum will be just as bad unfortunately.
Cheap, fast, reliable.....you only get to choose two.
